HISTORY
What began as a vision to establish top-level basketball in Vienna for the long term has grown into a club that has won domestic titles, pushed international boundaries and made Austrian basketball history.
BC VIENNA IS BORN.
On August 14, 2010, Petar and Stjepan Stazić founded Basketball Club Vienna. Their shared vision was clear from the very beginning: top-level basketball should not only exist in Vienna, but find a permanent home here.
THE TITLE RETURNS TO VIENNA.
Just three years after its founding, BC Vienna completes its rapid rise by winning the first Austrian championship in club history and bringing the title back to the capital.
THE STEP INTO EUROPE.
The championship opens the door to European basketball for the young club. In the 2013/14 season, BC Vienna competes in the FIBA EuroChallenge and takes to the international stage for the first time.
A HOME OF ITS OWN.
With its own Dome, BC Vienna gains a permanent sporting home. The arena becomes the heart of the club: the stage for its home games, its daily training base and the foundation for its continued development.
THE NEXT INTERNATIONAL STEP.
By entering the Alpe Adria Cup for the first time, BC Vienna expands its sporting horizons. Regular competition against clubs from across the region becomes an important part of its international development.
A SEASON FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS.
By winning both the Austrian championship and the cup, BC Vienna completes the first double in club history. The remarkable season earns recognition beyond basketball, with the City of Vienna naming the club Team of the Year.
AN ALPE ADRIA CUP FINAL.
BC Vienna reaches the Alpe Adria Cup final for the first time and competes for an international title. Reaching the final marks the greatest international achievement in the club’s history up to that point.
BC VIENNA MAKES HISTORY.
By joining the ABA League, BC Vienna takes Austrian club basketball to a level it had never reached before. As the first Austrian club to compete in one of Europe’s strongest leagues, BC Vienna secures its place in the competition in its debut season. This historic step marks the greatest international achievement in Austrian club basketball and establishes Vienna as a lasting part of Southeast Europe’s biggest basketball stage. That same year, the City of Vienna names BC Vienna Team of the Year for the second time, following its first award in 2022.
