BC Vienna have continued to build their roster for the 2026–27 international season with the signing of Grant Sherfield. The 26-year-old American most recently played for Trefl Sopot in Poland and will represent Vienna in the AdmiralBet ABA League as well as either the Basketball Champions League or the FIBA Europe Cup, depending on the outcome of qualification.

“I’m very excited to be part of the club,” Sherfield said. “For me, this is the right place to continue developing as a player while competing for a team with high ambitions.”

KEY CONTRIBUTOR IN THE BBL AND EUROPE CUP

The 6-foot-1 guard began the 2025-26 season with Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, emerging as a key contributor in both the German BBL, where he averaged 14.0 points and 3.6 assists across 24 games, and the FIBA Europe Cup, where he posted 16.0 points and 4.0 assists per game. He moved to Sopot in March and made 15 appearances for Trefl across all competitions.

“Grant is an experienced player who has already competed in strong leagues,” head coach Dragan Bajić said. “He can play either guard position, is a reliable three-point shooter and can create his own shot off the dribble. His pace and aggressive style of play give us more options offensively.”

Sherfield began his professional career in Europe with Metropolitans 92 in France in 2023. He later played for Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel, RASTA Vechta in Germany and Yalovaspor in Turkey.

Bajić also expects Sherfield to make an impact on the defensive end.

“He has already shown that he can help his team on that side of the floor as well,” Bajić said. “I’m convinced that Grant is a very strong addition and that he will quickly settle into our team.”

STANDOUT COLLEGE CAREER

Before moving to Europe, Sherfield played college basketball at Wichita State, Nevada and Oklahoma. He established himself as one of the top guards in the Mountain West during his time at Nevada and earned first-team All-Mountain West honors. In his final college season at Oklahoma, he led the team in scoring.

After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft, Sherfield played for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League.

Sherfield has clear goals for his first season in Vienna.

“I want to help the team win as many games as possible, continue improving every day and make a positive contribution on and off the court,” he said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
