BC Vienna has completed the signing of Bogdan Zimonjić, the club’s sixth new addition ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 23-year-old Serbian guard joins Vienna from KK Dynamic Balkan Bet.

Primarily a shooting guard, Zimonjić can also play on the wing depending on the lineup. The 6-foot-3 guard combines athleticism and physicality with a reliable outside shot, giving BC Vienna added versatility on the perimeter.

Vienna represents the next chapter in a career that has taken Zimonjić from Belgrade to the United States and back to Serbian professional basketball.

“I chose BC Vienna because I believe this is the right step for my further development,” said Zimonjić.

“The coach, the excellent practice conditions, the positive environment within the club and the city of Vienna all played a major role in my decision.”

FROM THE UNITED STATES BACK TO BELGRADE

Zimonjić began his basketball development in Belgrade. After spells with KK Čubura and KK Radnički, he decided to continue his career in the United States. He initially joined Florida Atlantic University before transferring to Tennessee Tech, where he spent three seasons competing in NCAA Division I.

His college years were not limited to basketball. Alongside his development on the court, Zimonjić earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also gained international experience with Serbia’s U20 national team.

After returning from the United States, Zimonjić took his first steps in professional basketball with KK FMP. He made his ABA League debut with the club before moving to KK Dynamic later in the season, returning to the team where he had already made his first senior appearances as a teenager.

The move proved to be an important one. With increased playing time and responsibility, Zimonjić steadily raised his level throughout the 2025/26 season, averaging 15.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the Serbian KLS.

Head coach Dragan Bajić was particularly impressed by the progress Zimonjić made over the course of the season.

“What stands out is that Bogdan continued to improve his level, both offensively and defensively,” said Bajić.

MORE THAN A SCORER

His average of 8.2 rebounds per game is particularly striking. For a player of his size and position, that number is exceptional and reflects his willingness to embrace contact, anticipate plays and impact the game beyond scoring.

Bajić believes his rebounding ability is only one part of his overall profile.

“Bogdan is physically strong, can defend with great intensity and toughness, and has an excellent outside shot. He also has a very good instinct for offensive rebounds.”

At BC Vienna, Zimonjić will now look to bring those qualities to a higher level of competition and provide the team with physicality, energy and perimeter shooting.

The new signing is approaching the challenge with clear goals.

“I am looking forward to the new season and want to be successful together with the team.”

THREE GENERATIONS OF BASKETBALL

Basketball has been part of Bogdan Zimonjić’s life from the very beginning. His first experiences with the game came at KK Partizanski put in Belgrade’s Karaburma district, a club co-founded by his grandfather, Petronije Zimonjić.

For decades, Petronije Zimonjić was one of the most influential strength and conditioning coaches in the basketball landscape of the former Yugoslavia. That close connection to the sport continued into the next generation.

Bogdan’s father, Predrag “Bata” Zimonjić, also established himself as a highly respected strength and conditioning coach at the highest level of European basketball. He worked with the Serbian national team, Fenerbahçe and BC Khimki, and spent many years alongside legendary head coach Željko Obradović, contributing to numerous domestic and international successes.

He is currently part of the coaching staff at EuroLeague club KK Partizan.

Bogdan is making use of that expertise this summer. Until the start of preseason, he is working individually with his father on his physical preparation as he gets ready for his new challenge with BC Vienna.
