BC Vienna has appointed Dragan Bajić as its new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season. The 53-year-old succeeds Mike Coffin and will take charge of the team on the sidelines.

Before joining BC Vienna, Bajić spent many years with KK Igokea, first as a player, then as an assistant coach and later as head coach. He guided the club to four Bosnian league titles and six cup victories and led Igokea to the Basketball Champions League playoffs for the first time in club history.

Bajić was twice named ABA League Coach of the Year. He also served as head coach of the North Macedonia national team and previously coached the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team.

The appointment reflects BC Vienna’s commitment to continuity and long-term development. Bajić already knows the club and its internal structure well from his previous role as sporting director.

“With Dragan, we are appointing a coach with exceptional experience at the highest level,” BC Vienna managing director Petar Stazić said. “Since joining us as sporting director, he has played a major role in shaping our sporting direction and has been closely involved in preparations for the new season.

“Appointing him as head coach was the logical next step for us.”

“WE WILL WORK HARD EVERY DAY”

“I would like to thank the club for the trust it has placed in me,” Bajić said. “I am looking forward to continuing on this path as head coach together with the players, the staff and everyone at the club.

“We will work hard every day to build a successful team step by step.”

BC Vienna faces a demanding schedule in the 2026-27 season. In addition to the ABA League, the club will compete in another international competition.

Whether Vienna plays in the FIBA Basketball Champions League or the FIBA Europe Cup will be decided during qualification in September.

BC Vienna would also like to thank Mike Coffin for his work during the past season. Securing ABA League survival in the club’s debut campaign represented an important milestone in BC Vienna’s history.

The entire organisation wishes him all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.
