BC Vienna have started preparations for the 2026/27 season. The newly assembled team held its first practice at Hallmann Dome under new head coach Dragan Bajić.

Vienna will compete in three competitions for the first time. Alongside their second season in the AdmiralBet ABA League, they will play in either the Basketball Champions League or the FIBA Europe Cup, with that decision to be made in September. The win2day Basketball Superliga completes the schedule.

FIRST PRACTICE AT HALLMANN DOME

With a largely rebuilt roster, Vienna got an early start on preparations for the new season. The team opened training camp with its first sessions under Bajić, while latest signing Grant Sherfield joined his new teammates on the court.

Over the coming weeks, Vienna will look to build chemistry and lay the tactical foundations for the new season. Several games against international opposition will form an important part of the preparations.

The preseason schedule begins Aug. 20 against KK Igokea in Laktaši, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Five days later, Vienna will face Zenit St. Petersburg in Belgrade before hosting Inter Bratislava on Aug. 28.

TOURNAMENT IN SZOMBATHELY

BC Vienna will wrap up its preseason schedule with a two-day tournament in Szombathely, Hungary, on Sept. 4 and 5.

Vienna will then turn its attention to the first competitive games of the season. The club heads to Samokov, Bulgaria, for the Basketball Champions League qualifying tournament from Sept. 14-20, with a place in the group stage at stake. The outcome will determine whether the club continues its European campaign in the BCL or the FIBA Europe Cup.

The new AdmiralBet ABA League season begins only a few days later, with the opening round scheduled for Sept. 26 to 28.
