Aron Stazić will remain with BC Vienna after the club extended the Vienna native’s contract for the 2026/27 season. The 18-year-old is set to enter his fourth season with the senior team.

Stazić developed into one of the top Austrian players in the win2day Basketball Superliga last season. In 31 appearances, he averaged 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds, making him the league’s highest-scoring Austrian player.

Since making his BSL debut in the 2023/24 season, the forward has steadily increased his offensive production. After averaging 4.8 points in his first season and 7.0 points the following year, he enjoyed his breakthrough campaign in 2025/26.

FROM NATIONAL TEAM DEBUT TO RISING STAR

In February, Stazić made his debut for the Austrian senior national team against the Netherlands in Vienna during the European Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.

His strong development was recognised a few months later when he was named the 2025/26 Rising Star, an award presented by the Basketball Superliga to the season’s top young player.

The BC Vienna academy product also gained valuable experience on several other stages. He made his first appearances in the ABA League and helped BC Vienna’s U19 team win back-to-back Austrian championships.

Another highlight followed in June when he was invited to the adidas Eurocamp 2026 in Treviso, where he had the opportunity to showcase his game in front of NBA and other international scouts.

BAJIĆ BACKS HIS CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT

“Aron is a young and talented player with a very promising future in basketball. Throughout my coaching career, I have always given young players opportunities. Some of them have since established themselves in the EuroLeague and the ABA League,” said head coach Dragan Bajić.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Bajić added: “He has worked very hard on his game during the offseason to take the next step. Every practice and every game will be another opportunity for him to improve and become an important player for our team.”

Stazić is also looking forward to working with the new head coach and continuing his development in Vienna.

“I am very happy to stay with my hometown club for another season and continue developing as a player. Working with such an experienced and successful coach is a great opportunity. I cannot wait to get back on the court and give everything for the team.”
